|
| Morphology and biology: |
| The adults of these two bugs are greenish, with transparent wings and with metallic reflexes; the dimensions are included among the 16 - 20 mms and the 30 - 35 mms. The larvas are clearer in comparison to the Chrysopa pearl, they are 6 - 7 mms long and they bring on the back the rests of the plundered species (exuviae). In both the species the predatory stadium is that larval; the adults are glyciphagous or polliniphagous. The females lay the eggs at groups, next to the colonies of the aphids; the eggs are whitish and typically peduncolate. These two species spend the winter at the larval state. They start the activity in spring, soon enough; they complete, according to the environment, 2 - 4 generations a year (the fourth generation is rather rare). |
